In another milestone, the Department of Geography and Environmental Management building was fully renovated to enhance research capabilities and provide state of the art laboratory and fieldwork facilities for students pursuing environmental and geographic studies. Additionally, the UNILORIN Innovation Hub has been remodelled to foster entrepreneurship, creativity, and technology driven solutions among students and staff. The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior government officials, university management, faculty members, and students. President Tinubu, in his address, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development as a critical driver for quality education, research excellence, and national development. He commended the university leadership for their strategic vision and execution of projects that contribute to the overall advancement of education in Nigeria.
“Education remains the cornerstone of national development, and universities like UNILORIN must be supported to provide students with modern facilities, conducive learning environments, and opportunities to thrive academically and professionally,” President Tinubu stated. He also pledged continued federal support for higher education, noting that sustained investment in university infrastructure is essential for nurturing the next generation of Nigerian leaders, innovators, and professionals.
University officials expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support and highlighted the transformative impact of these projects on students’ academic and social experiences. The newly inaugurated facilities are expected to significantly enhance teaching, learning, research, and innovation across multiple faculties, setting a benchmark for infrastructure development in Nigerian higher education.
