The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full re-accreditation to all 25 undergraduate programmes offered by Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, in a significant boost to the institution’s academic standing.
The announcement was made public following the conclusion of an extensive evaluation exercise conducted by NUC panels in late 2024. According to the university’s management, the accreditation covers key programmes across diverse faculties including Engineering, Pure and Applied Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, and Agriculture.
In a statement issued on Thursday, KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, described the re-accreditation as a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and infrastructure development. “This success reflects the dedication of our staff and the strategic support from the state government,” he said.
The NUC re-accreditation process involves a rigorous review of academic content, teaching personnel, research output, facilities, and student support services. Full accreditation signifies that these programmes meet the national benchmark minimum academic standards.
Stakeholders, including parents and prospective students, have welcomed the development as a reassurance of quality education at the institution. The feat positions KWASU among the top-performing state universities in Nigeria.
KWASU, established in 2009, has steadily grown its academic profile and continues to expand its programmes and facilities in line with global best practices.
