Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her unwavering belief in education as the bedrock of the nation’s long-term growth and prosperity. Speaking at a recent national education summit in Abuja, she emphasized that true national development can only be achieved through sustained investment in the intellectual and moral foundation of young Nigerians.
“Education is not just a tool—it is the very foundation upon which a prosperous, secure, and equitable nation must be built,” Mrs. Tinubu stated during her keynote address. “When we invest in the minds of our children, we are planting the seeds for a stronger, more unified Nigeria.”
Her comments come amid ongoing national discussions about the urgent need to revamp Nigeria’s educational infrastructure, improve teacher training, and address out-of-school rates, particularly in the northern regions.
Senator Tinubu, a former educator and advocate for youth empowerment, also called on both the public and private sectors to prioritize educational initiatives. She highlighted the efforts of her Renewed Hope Initiative, which aims to bridge educational gaps by providing scholarships, learning materials, and digital literacy programs across all 36 states.
“We must go beyond rhetoric and act decisively. Our future depends on the choices we make today about education,” she urged.
The First Lady’s remarks have been widely praised by education stakeholders, who see her voice as a powerful catalyst in pushing for long-overdue reforms in Nigeria’s learning systems.
The summit concluded with a renewed pledge by government officials and education partners to strengthen collaboration and fund inclusive, quality education for all Nigerian children.
