President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the leadership and staff of the Federal Cooperative College in Oji River, Enugu State, for the transformative strides made in enhancing the institution’s educational offerings and infrastructure.
During his visit to the college on Friday, the president highlighted the institution’s significant progress in providing quality training for cooperative development, which plays a crucial role in the empowerment of Nigerians through the promotion of collective economic activities.
“What I have seen here today is nothing short of remarkable,” President Tinubu said. “The Federal Cooperative College Oji River is an example of what can be achieved when dedication and innovation come together. This institution is helping to equip Nigerians with the skills needed to thrive in cooperative ventures, which are critical to our economic development.”
Tinubu’s visit came as part of his administration’s broader focus on improving the educational system and empowering institutions that are key to economic self-sufficiency. The Federal Cooperative College Oji River has, in recent years, witnessed significant investments in infrastructure, including modernized classrooms, upgraded student accommodations, and expanded learning resources.
The college is at the forefront of training individuals in cooperative management, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, with a growing number of Nigerians benefitting from its programs.
“Cooperative businesses have the potential to transform local economies, and this college is helping to provide the knowledge and tools for Nigerians to succeed in this space,” Tinubu added.
He also commended the efforts of the staff and management for their commitment to improving the standards of education and training at the college, calling it an example of the nation’s potential when it invests in human capital development.
In addition to acknowledging the institution’s achievements, the president promised continued government support to educational institutions across the country. He noted that empowering Nigerians through education and skill development is a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda.
The visit was marked by a tour of the college’s facilities, where Tinubu interacted with students and faculty members. Many students expressed their appreciation for the president’s interest in their education and the positive changes occurring at the college.
The Federal Cooperative College Oji River, one of the few specialized institutions of its kind in Nigeria, continues to serve as a critical platform for promoting cooperative principles and sustainable development, both of which are aligned with the president’s vision for an economically resilient Nigeria.
