In a move aimed at promoting education and giving back to the communities it operates in, leading Nigerian food services company, Sundry Foods Limited, has awarded academic scholarships to deserving students in its host communities across the country.
The initiative, part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive, is focused on empowering young Nigerians through access to quality education and supporting families facing financial hardship. The scholarships cover tuition and other academic-related expenses for secondary and tertiary students who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at one of the beneficiary schools, the Managing Director of Sundry Foods, Mr. Ebele Enunwa, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social impact.
“At Sundry Foods, we believe that education is the foundation for national development. We are proud to support these bright young minds and contribute to building a stronger future for Nigeria,” he said.
Community leaders, parents, and school administrators lauded the initiative, calling it a beacon of hope for students who might otherwise struggle to complete their education. Several recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude, pledging to work harder in their studies.
One of the beneficiaries, 16-year-old Chinenye Okafor, who dreams of becoming a doctor, said the scholarship has lifted a significant burden off her family. “I’m so grateful. This gives me a real chance to focus on school and follow my dreams,” she said.
The scholarship program is one of several CSR projects by Sundry Foods, which owns popular food brands like Kilimanjaro and Pizza Jungle. The company has also supported community health outreaches, youth development programs, and local employment initiatives.
With education widely recognized as a tool for empowerment and poverty alleviation, Sundry Foods’ gesture has been praised as a model for private-sector participation in national development. The company says it plans to expand the scholarship program to more communities in the coming years.
As businesses across Nigeria face increasing pressure to play a more active role in social development, Sundry Foods’ investment in human capital is a reminder that corporate success and community upliftment can go hand in hand.
