Abuja, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the postponement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration until Monday, February 3, 2025.
Initially scheduled to commence on Friday, January 31, the registration was delayed to allow the Board to implement essential adjustments to its registration templates.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, made the announcement via the Board’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, citing two key reasons for the decision.
Reasons for the Postponement
- Suspension of Certain Law Programmes
JAMB stated that the postponement was necessary following the Council for Legal Education’s recent suspension of some law programmes at selected universities. The changes required an update to the registration system to prevent candidates from selecting affected institutions for law studies. - Scrutiny of Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres
The Board also revealed that some CBT centres had used deceptive facilities to gain approval. As a result, JAMB is carrying out additional scrutiny and corrections, including disapproving fraudulent centres to ensure a fair and credible examination process.
JAMB Apologizes for Inconvenience
JAMB acknowledged that the postponement might cause disruptions for candidates and other stakeholders, offering an apology for any inconvenience.
“The additional time will be used to ensure that all necessary changes are made for a smooth registration process,” the statement read.
The Board assured candidates that it remains committed to a transparent and efficient registration process, adding that further updates will be communicated as necessary.
