M. Ayodele Subair, the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), was conferred with an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration (honoris causa) by Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). The prestigious award was presented during the university’s 13th convocation and 25th anniversary celebration on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, stated that the honor was in recognition of Subair’s exceptional contributions to the advancement of taxation in Nigeria and his exemplary leadership in transforming the LIRS. Under his stewardship, the agency has achieved a remarkable 310 percent growth in revenue, setting a high standard for tax administration in the country.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Subair expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and underscored the transformative impact of education. He encouraged the graduating students to serve as agents of change and emphasized the importance of lifelong learning. He also reminded them of their potential to be future leaders, innovators, and change-makers who can shape society for the better.
