Mr. Ayodele Subair, the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), has been awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration (honoris causa) by Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). The prestigious recognition was presented during the university’s 13th convocation ceremony and 25th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
According to a statement from the university, the honor was bestowed on Subair in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of taxation in Nigeria and his exemplary leadership in transforming the LIRS. Under his guidance, the agency has achieved an impressive 310 percent revenue growth, setting a new standard for effective tax administration in the country.
In his acceptance speech, Subair expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the transformative power of education. He encouraged the graduates to embrace their roles as agents of change and to continuously champion the cause of education in their daily lives. He also urged the students to commit to lifelong learning, emphasizing their important role as future leaders, innovators, and change-makers who will shape the future of society.
