Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Reports N1.6 Billion Revenue in 2024, Targets N3.1 Billion for 2025

Sagamu, Ogun State – December 17, 2024 – The Management of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) has announced a revenue of N1.6 billion generated internally in just 10 months. Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, disclosed this figure during the institution’s 2025 budget defense at the Ogun State House of Assembly in Abeokuta on Monday.

Dr. Fatungase revealed that between January and October 2024, the hospital generated N1.6 billion and aims to increase this amount to N3.1 billion in 2025. The hospital’s projected revenue for the upcoming year is expected to stem from several sources, including contractors’ registration fees, administrative charges, and the sale of bills of entry and application forms.

Additional revenue sources for 2025 include proceeds from the sale of government vehicles, N957.5 million from the sale of drugs and medications, over N1.4 billion from medical services, and N717.6 million from laboratory services.

Major Infrastructure Projects

In her presentation, Dr. Fatungase also outlined key infrastructure projects planned for 2025. A total of N788 million has been allocated for the construction of a new administrative block, which will include offices, an auditorium, boardrooms, and committee rooms. She emphasized that this project will improve the work environment for staff and enhance the hospital’s image, ultimately boosting the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Another significant project involves the construction of a Physiotherapy Building and a Stroke Unit, for which N160.9 million has been earmarked. Additionally, N7.1 billion has been allocated for the construction of a Trauma Centre to handle cases such as heart failure, asthma, and convulsions.

2025 Budget Proposal

The 2025 budget proposal for OOUTH includes a recurrent expenditure of N6.9 billion and a capital expenditure of N22.6 billion, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to enhancing both its operational and infrastructural capabilities.

State Ministry of Health’s Budget

Also presenting budget estimates, Ogun State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, revealed that the state’s Ministry of Health has proposed a total expenditure of N15.5 billion for 2025. This includes N4.1 billion allocated for the renovation of the three state-owned Colleges of Nursing and the construction of additional hostel blocks.
