Senator Saliu Mustapha Pledges Partnership with University of Ilorin’s Faculty of Agriculture

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, has pledged to forge a strategic partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ilorin to drive agricultural development in Nigeria. The senator made this announcement during his goodwill message at the Faculty of Agriculture Alumni Association Day, where he was honored with an award for his contributions to the sector.

Represented by Dr. Monica Sunnie-Ododo, Mustapha expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of the award as a testament to his ongoing commitment to agricultural development. “This recognition means a lot to me and reaffirms my dedication to supporting innovative agricultural initiatives,” he said.

The senator highlighted his legislative efforts, notably sponsoring eight bills, five of which are centered on advancing agriculture. He also unveiled plans to establish a dedicated desk in his office to help alumni access federal opportunities for implementing impactful agricultural projects.

Mustapha further praised the contributions of alumni to national food security, stating, “With dedicated alumni like you, Nigeria has no reason to import food or endure hunger. Your ideas and initiatives are key to building a self-reliant and food-secure nation.”

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Oluyemisi Bolajoko Fawole, lauded the senator for his visionary leadership and proactive stance on agricultural development. “Senator Mustapha’s leadership reflects a profound understanding of the transformative potential of agriculture,” he said.

The Faculty of Agriculture expressed eagerness to collaborate with Mustapha’s office, with hopes of tackling food insecurity and advancing agricultural research and innovation in Kwara State and beyond.

The Alumni Association Day, themed “Agriculture and National Development: The Role of Alumni,” featured dynamic discussions and renewed commitments to revitalizing Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
