Anambra Governor Promises to End 21-Year Power Outage at Ojukwu University Uli Campus

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to resolve the 21-year power outage at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Uli Campus, in Ihiala Local Government Area. The Governor made this promise during his one-day working visit to the campus, as stated by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, on Wednesday.

Soludo emphasized that not only the university but also the Uli community would benefit from the electricity restoration project. He acknowledged the need for infrastructure upgrades on the campus, describing the environment as orderly but in need of significant improvements.

The Governor also highlighted the importance of digital access, promising to provide internet and Wi-Fi access in public spaces on the campus, ensuring students are connected to the digital world. He stressed the importance of quality education and announced plans to improve internal roads within the campus.

Further, Soludo encouraged the community to protect the institution and expressed his administration’s commitment to investing in human capital development through education. He reaffirmed that education is key to Anambra’s future and development.

Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Deh, the Commissioner for Education, praised the Governor’s support for education in the state, while Prof. Kate Omenugha, the Acting Vice Chancellor of COOU, thanked Soludo for his efforts, including support for the institution’s accreditation.

Key officials present at the event included the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Ernest Ezeajughi, local government leaders, and members of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
