President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ondo State Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji, have called on youths, students in Nigeria and the diaspora to follow the example of Professor Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), for his remarkable achievements in both academics and humanitarian efforts.
The leaders made these remarks after Professor Olukoya was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Management Science during the combined 34th and 35th convocation ceremony at FUTA.
Represented by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, President Tinubu praised Olukoya for his significant contributions to education and societal upliftment. He highlighted Olukoya’s focus on improving the lives of the underprivileged, saying, “Professor Olukoya’s investment in education and societal development is highly commendable. He serves as a mentor and role model, particularly for his passion for lifting the downtrodden.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa also expressed his admiration for Olukoya’s transformative impact. He noted that Olukoya’s support to humanity, both physically and spiritually, has positively affected many lives, emphasizing the construction of a Microbiology Laboratory at FUTA, scholarships for students, and monetary rewards for First Class graduates worldwide. He encouraged youths to emulate Olukoya’s academic success and his commitment to service.
“People should look at Olukoya as an example in terms of academics and life,” Aiyedatiwa said. “His selfless service through his ministry and in other areas has made a significant impact on many lives.”
FUTA’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Oladiji, explained that Olukoya was awarded the Honorary Doctorate for his extensive contributions to humanity, particularly to FUTA. She highlighted his role in the establishment of the Microbiology Laboratory and the scholarships provided to students, which have directly contributed to enhancing the quality of graduates. Oladiji commended Olukoya for his dedication to human and capital development, as well as his support for science and technology in various universities.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Olukoya expressed his gratitude to FUTA for the honor. He shared that his joy comes from positively impacting lives, both spiritually and physically. “The purpose of existence is to add positive value to others,” he said.
Olukoya, a graduate of Methodist Boys’ High School and the University of Lagos with a First-Class degree in Microbiology, also revealed that this year alone, he rewarded 492 First Class students with monetary awards, in addition to providing full scholarships to numerous students.
