Edo Governor Orders Reinstatement of Disengaged AAU Staff

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate reinstatement of staff members from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, who were dismissed by the previous administration. The staff had been disengaged in March 2023 by the Special Intervention Team (SIT) under former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.

The staff were let go following their protests demanding the payment of outstanding salaries and other entitlements owed by the state government. Okpebholo, in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, affirmed that the reinstatement reflects his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and principles of justice.

The statement read: “Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the immediate reinstatement of staff of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, who were unlawfully disengaged by the Special Intervention Team in March 2023 under the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki.”

The Governor emphasized that his administration is dedicated to correcting any perceived injustice against the people of Edo State, reinforcing his commitment to equity, natural justice, and good governance.
