The University of Benin Alumni Association (UBAA), Lagos Branch, will be hosting its 2024 Awards of Excellence program on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Black Diamond Hotel, Ozumba Mbadiwe Way, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event, themed “Beyond Social Gathering: The Role of Alumni Associations in Nigeria,” aims to recognize outstanding alumni who have made significant contributions to the growth of the University of Benin and to the development of Nigeria.
The Chairman of UBAA, Lagos Branch, Engr. Godson Aikhoje, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that it celebrates alumni who have excelled in various fields and served as role models for younger generations. “This award is to celebrate old students from the University of Benin who have contributed to the growth and development of our country. We are using this award to recognize and celebrate them as great ambassadors of Uniben. They are great mirrors to our young ones, making them understand that hard work pays,” he said.
Engr. Aikhoje also stressed the importance of giving back to their alma mater as a way of showing gratitude for the education they received. The awards will honor individuals who have made lasting impacts in their respective professions, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
