Nile University of Nigeria Unveils State-of-the-Art Fabrication Laboratory in Partnership with French Embassy

Abuja, Nigeria — Nile University of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Embassy of France, has launched an advanced Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) to empower students and faculty to design, prototype, and develop innovative solutions with a strong focus on social and environmental impact. The cutting-edge workshop, equipped with the latest digital tools, was officially opened on Wednesday, 20th November 2024, at the Nile University campus.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Marc Fonbaustier, and the Vice-Chancellor of Nile University, Professor Dilli Dogo FNAMed. This marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the Embassy of France and Nile University, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier in May 2024.

In his address, Professor Dilli Dogo expressed gratitude to Ambassador Fonbaustier and the French government for selecting Nile University as a strategic partner. He described the Fab Lab as a “testament to our shared vision of academic excellence and innovation.” Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the French Embassy for donating a mini-factory focused on plastic waste management, in line with the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Ambassador Fonbaustier reaffirmed the significance of the partnership, emphasizing that the Fab Lab’s commissioning is only the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. “The Embassy of France is excited to work closely with Nile University, and we see this as the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship,” he stated.

Following the commissioning, Nile University students participated in an interactive session with representatives from over 22 French universities, organized under the Campus France Higher Education initiative. This session offered students valuable insights into collaborative research programs, exchange opportunities, and other academic avenues available in France.
