A university has issued a reminder about its dress code, following an increase in reports of indecent dressing on campus. The memo, signed by Safiya Hassan, the administrative officer at the student affairs unit, was shared with students on November 15.
The memo stressed the importance of maintaining a respectful, professional, and conducive learning environment. “All students are expected to wear clothing that is neat, modest, and appropriate for an academic setting,” the memo stated.
For male students, the university has emphasized the need for neat, well-groomed hairstyles, warning that bushy or unkempt hair is not acceptable. Additionally, dark glasses, saggy trousers, and any attire deemed inappropriate for the campus environment are prohibited.
Female students were specifically asked to avoid wearing crop tops, revealing clothing, or anything that could be considered distracting or inappropriate for class. The memo also advised female students to keep their hair at a reasonable length, discouraging excessively long or unkempt hairstyles in academic settings.
