Air Peace Partners with Boeing and Cranfield University to Strengthen Safety Culture and Leadership

Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, has teamed up with Boeing Company and Cranfield University to enhance its safety culture and operational excellence. The partnership, aimed at reinforcing leadership in safety, involves training sessions under the Boeing Global Learning Institute (BGLI) with a focus on “Advanced Leadership in Safety Excellence.” This five-day, in-person training brought together Air Peace’s executives, postholders, and management leadership from various departments to refine their safety leadership skills and transform workplace safety culture.

According to Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment between the airline, Boeing, and Cranfield University to shape the future of aviation leadership. The training aimed to equip Air Peace executives with practical tools for managing risks effectively, building high-performing teams, and ensuring safety is prioritized at all levels of the organization.

Harry Magui, Senior Organisational Consultant and Programme Manager at Boeing Global Learning Institute, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and leadership development in aviation. He highlighted that Boeing’s learning programs are designed to improve leadership, business, and technical skills, helping partners like Air Peace enhance operational efficiency and strengthen their teams.

Cranfield University’s Prof. Graham Braithwaite, Head of Aerospace, noted that the collaboration directly addressed Air Peace’s safety challenges, culminating in real-world projects that would leave a lasting impact. Dr. Fabian Steinmann, Lecturer at Cranfield’s School of Management, praised Air Peace’s commitment to safety, highlighting the exchange of best practices from around the world as key to strengthening the airline’s safety systems.

The training program was structured in two phases: the first focused on aligning operational insights with the program’s objectives, while the second phase provided participants with advanced safety leadership strategies. The curriculum combined theoretical learning with hands-on applications, empowering Air Peace leaders to implement their newfound knowledge across the organization.

Capt. Godfrey Ogbogu, Safety Manager at Air Peace, expressed enthusiasm for the training, emphasizing that it was a vital step for the airline’s growth and resilience.
