Owode Abeokuta, Ogun State – Chrisland University recently held its inaugural induction ceremony for its first set of nursing graduates at the institution’s auditorium. This historic event marked a significant milestone for the university, which is continuing to build its reputation as a leading academic institution in Nigeria.
The outgoing Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Professor Chinedum Babalola, expressed her pride in the 22 nursing graduates for their outstanding performance in their professional examinations. She commended their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that the university’s nursing program is fully accredited, assuring parents and the general public of the quality and standard of education provided.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the event featured a convocation lecture delivered by Engr. Umar Bindir, who spoke on the topic, “Nigeria: Strategies for a National Rebirth, with Special Reference to a Triple Helix Innovation.” Bindir highlighted the importance of conducting more in-depth research into Nigeria’s national challenges and transforming tertiary institutions into innovation hubs. He emphasized the need for research-driven technology and the establishment of Triple Helix Innovation Centres, which would integrate government, academia, and industry to foster local production and management of Nigerian goods.
The event also hosted Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), who was represented by Ms. Abiola Adekunle, Head of the Servicom/Public Relations Unit. Oloyede’s presence underscored the importance of the ceremony and the role of educational institutions in shaping the future of Nigeria’s healthcare system.
The induction ceremony and convocation lecture were attended by academic staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders, all of whom celebrated the university’s significant achievement in nurturing the next generation of nursing professionals.
