Federal University Dutsinma Honors Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi with Doctorate in Engineering

Dutsinma, Nigeria — The Federal University Dutsinma awarded Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Engineering during its 9th convocation ceremony held over the weekend. Bichi, who represents the Bichi Federal Constituency in Kano and serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, received the honor for his significant contributions to educational development in Nigeria.

Prof. Armayau Hamisu, the Vice Chancellor of the university, praised Bichi for his commitment to advancing education, particularly highlighting his recent initiative to fully sponsor 21 postgraduate students to study engineering in Malaysia. In addition, Bichi is supporting 5,000 indigenes from his constituency enrolled in various universities and colleges across Nigeria.

In recognition of his philanthropic efforts, the university also named a 200-capacity auditorium after Bichi. “Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi has facilitated numerous projects that have enhanced academic activities at our institution, including funding for three faculties, a library, a female hostel, and an auditorium,” Hamisu stated.

After the auditorium’s commissioning, Bichi expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue advocating for improvements in Nigeria’s academic institutions to ensure they compete globally. “Universities in developed countries have successfully implemented such funding measures. Nigerian universities should adopt these practices as well,” he remarked.

Bichi was joined at the ceremony by fellow members of the House of Representatives from various geopolitical zones, along with family and friends, celebrating his contributions to education and the community.
