Gombe, Nigeria — The Gombe State Government has successfully reached an agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Gombe State University, paving the way for the institution’s reopening. This resolution was achieved during negotiations led by Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau.
The agreement marks the conclusion of discussions that had previously stalled academic activities at the university. ASUU Zonal Coordinator OA Timothy Namo confirmed that the union accepted all terms outlined in the negotiations, allowing preparations for the university’s reopening to begin within the next week.
Dr. Jatau praised the commitment from both the state government and ASUU in swiftly resolving the impasse. He expressed optimism that this peaceful resolution would foster a collaborative relationship, ensuring uninterrupted academic activities in the future.
In support of the university’s staff, the Gombe State Government had previously allocated significant funds to address outstanding needs, demonstrating its commitment to improving education and staff welfare.
