Wigwe University, located in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, has officially commenced academic activities, eight months after the tragic death of its founder, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, former Managing Director of Access Holdings.
Wigwe, along with his wife and son, died in a plane crash in the United States in February 2024. Despite the loss, the institution he established has opened its doors to students, continuing his legacy in education.
The university is expected to serve as a key educational hub in the region, reflecting the vision of Dr. Wigwe, who was committed to providing high-quality education.
