Ile-Ife, Osun State — Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President, has committed to a N1 billion donation for the horticultural landscaping of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) during a visit to the campus on Thursday. The event also marked the unveiling of the newly named Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way, a 2.7-kilometre road, along with a grand pavilion and a monument, donated by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Reflecting on her time as a student at OAU, Tinubu expressed concern over the decline in the campus’s greenery and called for immediate action to restore its former beauty. “I will donate N1bn for OAU’s horticultural landscape to be restored. Ife is crying out for help. The beauty must be restored,” she stated.
The Ooni praised Tinubu’s contributions to education and women’s empowerment, highlighting the significance of the projects named in her honor. He noted that the new road and hostel symbolize her commitment to creating opportunities for learning and development.
Osun State’s Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, reiterated the administration’s dedication to enhancing infrastructural facilities across the state.
