At the 16th convocation ceremony of Redeemer’s University in Ede, Osun State, Vice-Chancellor Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele announced that a total of 1,055 undergraduate students are graduating this year, with 86 achieving First Class honors.
During a press conference marking the event, Professor Akindele detailed the breakdown of graduates: 435 students received Second Class Upper Division degrees, 219 earned Second Class Lower Division, and 86 graduated with Third Class degrees. Additionally, 13 students will graduate with a Pass degree in Nursing and Physiotherapy programs, while three will receive “Pass with Distinction” and 69 will achieve “Pass with Credit.”
In the Diploma category, 25 students are graduating, including three with Distinction and 14 with Upper Credit. At the postgraduate level, 387 students are set to graduate, comprising 33 PhD candidates, three MPhil candidates, 215 at the Master’s level, and 137 at the postgraduate diploma level.
Notably, this year marks the first graduation of students from the university’s Architecture, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs. Two students from the Engineering department, Favour and Grace, achieved the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.96.
Professor Akindele also highlighted that the Nursing and Physiotherapy students maintained a 100% pass rate in all their professional examinations, a testament to the dedication of the faculty and the collaboration with local hospitals.
This year’s ceremony will also see the awarding of honorary degrees to two distinguished Nigerians: Mr. Tolulope Babatunde Adeusi, an entrepreneur and CEO of TG Marchnata Enterprises, and Mrs. Grace Olufunmilayo Tamuno, the university’s first librarian.
In closing, Professor Akindele emphasized the university’s mission to cultivate graduates who are not only skilled but also possess integrity and humility, preparing them to lead with character in their respective fields.
