Keffi, Nasarawa State — Pastor Thomas Stephen, Chaplain of the Chapel of Salvation at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has called on Nigerian youths to remain hopeful, hardworking, and patriotic in exploring the nation’s economic potential to build a stronger and more prosperous future.
Speaking at a special church service commemorating Nigeria’s Independence Day in Keffi on Wednesday, Pastor Stephen stressed that the achievements of the country’s founding fathers and heroes should serve as inspiration for young Nigerians. He urged the youth to focus on contributing to national growth and development, noting that the future of Nigeria’s sovereignty hinges on their active participation in governance.
Focus on Youth and National Growth
Pastor Stephen emphasized the pivotal role Nigerian youth must play in shaping the country’s future. He encouraged young people to engage in nation-building by adopting attitudes of hard work and patriotism, as well as actively pursuing opportunities for personal and professional growth.

During the service, Dr. Vincent Paul, a Senior Lecturer at Nasarawa State University, presented a paper titled “Re-defining Nigeria: The Role of the Church in Harnessing the Potential of Agro-partnership for Sustainable Nation Building.” Dr. Paul highlighted the crucial role of religious institutions in mobilizing young people towards skill acquisition and entrepreneurship, especially in the agricultural sector. He urged the government to prioritize security and work towards fostering peaceful coexistence among the nation’s diverse ethnic groups.

Among the worshippers, Dr. Daniel Adamu and Mr. Wana Danladi echoed Pastor Stephen’s call for a renewed Nigeria, emphasizing the need for selfless leadership focused on national unity and progress.
