In a significant boost to academic excellence, VirtualTest, an innovative academic competition for higher education students, has awarded a total of N4 million to 50 standout individuals from Nigerian tertiary institutions. This competition, organized by the Mobile Classroom App, saw thousands of students participating across various academic disciplines.
The initiative, designed to leverage technology to enhance education, focused on four major academic categories: Mass Communication, Political Science, Business/Public Administration, and Social Science Education. The competition aimed to recognize and reward academic excellence while encouraging a disciplined approach to learning.
According to a statement from the Mobile Classroom App, each top scorer in the four categories received N150,000, while the second and third place winners were awarded N120,000 and N80,000 respectively. Additionally, high-performing students across all categories received N50,000 each. This approach reflects the initiative’s commitment to acknowledging and fostering academic achievement.
Akeem Salami, founder of the Mobile Classroom App, emphasized the importance of recognizing students’ educational efforts. “The Mobile Classroom App was created to bridge learning gaps and offer a platform where students can be acknowledged for their academic achievements. It is a vital tool to encourage focus and discipline in education,” Salami stated. He also highlighted the app’s feature that allows lecturers to upload video content, preserving their intellectual property while contributing to students’ educational development.
Salami further noted that VirtualTest is instrumental in guiding students away from distractions and towards productive academic pursuits. “VirtualTest facilitates learning and earning, steering students away from distractions toward purposeful academic endeavors,” he added.
Dr. Olusina Ajidahun, a content creator, praised the initiative for its innovative approach to student assessment. “The app is user-friendly and an excellent educational tool in today’s digital era,” Ajidahun commented.
In the Business Administration category, Rufus Olawale from Lagos State University secured first place, followed by Ikechukwu Franklin from Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University and Oshinuga Ayomide from LASU.
The Mass Communication category saw significant success from the University of Ilorin, with Ayomide Alabi, Oluwayemisi Dahunsi, and Ahmad Ogunbayi leading the top three positions. The category also featured winners from the University of Ibadan, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun College of Technology, Igbesa, and Yaba College of Technology.
In Social Science Education, Adesewa Adesanya from the University of Lagos emerged as the top scorer, with Ganiu Adesina and Obasi Udoh following in second and third places respectively.
The Political Science category was dominated by Samuel Okelle from Federal University Otuoke, with Sulyman Qozeem of Usman Danfodiyo University and Abraham Emmanuel from Federal University Otuoke securing second and third places.
