University of Ibadan to Admit UTME Candidates Scoring Below 200 Through Distance Learning

The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced a new policy allowing candidates who scored below 200 in the 2024 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to apply for admission through its Distance Learning Centre (DLC).

The declaration was made in a statement by Professor Babatunde Omobowale, Director of the DLC, on Monday. According to Omobowale, these candidates will be considered for undergraduate programs offered through the Open Distance eLearning (ODel) mode.

This decision aims to enhance accessibility to quality education for a broader range of students. Professor Omobowale emphasized the university’s commitment to making education available to all, including those who did not meet the typical UTME score requirements.

“UI is committed to making quality education accessible to all,” Omobowale stated. “Those who scored below 200 in JAMB UTME or did not sit for the UTME can also take advantage of this opportunity and enroll in any of the University undergraduate programs in ODeL mode.”

The university has also announced that both new and returning students will resume their studies in September.
