Mercy Chinwo and Husband Offer Scholarships to 100 University of Calabar Students

Calabar, Nigeria – Renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have announced full scholarships for 100 undergraduates at the University of Calabar through their Mercyisblessed Foundation.

The announcement was made during the couple’s tour of the university on Friday, July 12, 2024, as per a statement from her management on Monday. The scholarship covers full payment of school fees and additional support to ensure a stable learning environment for bright, underprivileged students.

Mercy Chinwo, reflecting on her journey, described the scholarship as a way to give back to the society that shaped her. “Port Harcourt is home to me any day. The memories are fresh of a city where I dared to dream and hope for a purposeful life. I thank the Lord for His work in me and through me so far. The scholarship is to inspire students that their dreams and ambitions are valid and not to give up because there is a God who has ‘Excess Love’,” she said.

Immediate Implementation

The scholarship initiative will be implemented immediately, with criteria for selection and other necessary details to be communicated through appropriate channels.

This gesture follows a similar initiative in April, where Chinwo awarded scholarships to 50 undergraduates at the University of Port Harcourt.

Musical Achievements

Mercy Chinwo recently released a 12-track album, ‘Overwhelming Victory’, recorded during her pregnancy. The album follows her successful projects such as ‘Elevated’, ‘Wonder’, and ‘Confidence’.

The scholarships underscore Mercy Chinwo and Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa’s commitment to fostering education and supporting the dreams of young Nigerians.
