The Acting Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Prof Razaq Kalilu, has announced the introduction of six new degree programmes. This announcement was made during the grand finale of the university’s 16th convocation ceremony held at the Great Hall.
Under Prof Kalilu’s leadership, LAUTECH is actively expanding its academic offerings to align with the vision set by its Visitor, Governor Seyi Makinde. Following the establishment of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences last year with four initial programmes, the university has now further diversified its curriculum. The newly introduced courses include Psychology, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Yoruba, Theatre Arts, and Political Science. Additionally, a new Faculty of Law has been established, poised to welcome students to its Law programme.
All seven new programmes underwent Resource Verification in March as part of the approval process by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Pending final clearance from the NUC, the university is prepared to admit new students into these programmes during the current academic session.
The convocation ceremony also featured words of encouragement from the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Ayodeji Omole. He urged the graduates to embody the principles of LAUTECH and serve as ambassadors of knowledge, integrity, excellence, service, and progress. “Carry the torch of learning with pride,” he advised, “and let your actions reflect the high quality of education you have received at LAUTECH.”
This expansion underscores LAUTECH’s dedication to providing a diverse and comprehensive educational environment, equipping its students to tackle the challenges of today’s dynamic world.
