UNIPORT Opens Applications for M.Sc. Petroleum Project Development and Energy Transition Programme

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced the commencement of applications for its M.Sc. Petroleum Project Development and Energy Transition Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. This initiative is part of the offerings provided by the Institute of Petroleum and Energy Studies (IPES), formerly known as the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS).

Program Overview
Established in 2003, IPES aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical demands in the oil and gas industry. The M.Sc. programme, a collaboration between UNIPORT and IFP School, France, is funded by the NNPC Limited/TotalEnergies E&P Nigeria Limited Joint Venture.

What You Will Learn
The programme equips students with skills to:

Understand Energy Transition dynamics.
Evaluate and manage oil and gas fields.
Supervise drilling and development operations.
Manage well completions and stimulations.
Operate onshore and offshore facilities.
Enhance oil and gas field performance.
The rigorous training, blending theoretical and hands-on approaches, ensures graduates are competent professionals ready to tackle industry challenges.

Programme Features
Duration: Full-time, twelve-month residential programme.
Degree: Joint Master’s degree from UNIPORT and IFP School, France.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

Bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class upper division from an NUC-accredited or internationally recognized Engineering Programme.
Post HND (Bachelor’s degree) from a recognized Engineering programme with at least a second-class upper division.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or physical sciences with a second-class lower division plus a postgraduate diploma in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a second-class lower division, supplemented by three years of relevant work experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
