Tragic Suicide at Nasarawa State University: 100-Level Student Takes Her Own Life

In a deeply distressing incident, 21-year-old Maikeffi Redemption Sarah, a fourth-year Microbiology undergraduate at Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, has reportedly ended her life by ingesting a poisonous substance.

The distressing event unfolded on Friday evening at an off-campus residence near the Family and Friends Hotel area, opposite Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

According to sources, the young woman, who was the fourth and youngest in her family, took this drastic step due to profound emotional struggles and depression.

Her tragic demise was confirmed by a male friend who shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, revealing that they had spoken on Thursday evening. Plans were made for her to attend a wedding on Saturday in Akwanga, with her return scheduled for Sunday. However, the shocking news of her sudden death shattered those plans.

Despite efforts by concerned students and neighbors to intervene and save her using palm oil, their attempts proved futile. The lifeless body of the deceased has been transported to the mortuary in Keffi.

A relative of the late student shared on Facebook that the burial is set to take place today, Saturday, in her hometown of Akwanga, adding another layer of sorrow to this tragic turn of events.
