Yaba-Akoka, Lagos – In an impressive display of entrepreneurial prowess, Mr. Barnabas Peter, a 300-level student majoring in Finance at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), clinched the coveted first place in the Start-up Pitch Competition during the 2023 Project Innovation 2 Marketing (I2M) Accelerated Incubator Programme. This prestigious event, organized by UNILAG’s Innovation Technology Management Office (ITMO), took place on November 3, 2023, and brought together promising talents from across the nation.
The competition, a part of the Project Innovation 2 Marketing (I2M) Accelerated Incubator Programme, witnessed a groundbreaking tech innovation that captured the top prize. Barnabas Peter’s innovative brainchild, “Travaye,” a digital platform aimed at assisting tourists, low-income earners, and anyone in search of exciting destinations, emerged as the undisputed winner.
Mr. Peter’s journey to success involved an intensive six-week incubation program where he honed his business acumen and entrepreneurial skills. The closing ceremony, held at UNILAG’s Arthur Mabnefo Digital Research Centre (AMDRC), enjoyed the presence of Engineer Jennifer Adighije, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Digital Economy, Communication, and Innovation to the President of Nigeria. Her attendance underscored the significance of the event and the government’s commitment to supporting emerging entrepreneurs in the country.
The event, a hybrid gathering, also showcased the innovative offerings of other entrepreneurs who presented a diverse array of start-up products and services spanning technology, agriculture, healthcare, and e-commerce. Notable mentions include Mrs. Chiemela Anosike of Solaris.ng and Sunday-Dogo Peter of Gonana.
