Uyo – The University of Uyo is gearing up for a remarkable combined convocation ceremony on November 11, 2023, where a total of 136 students will receive well-deserved first-class degrees across various fields of study.
During a press briefing held on the university campus in Uyo, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, shared this exciting news with the public. The upcoming convocation will witness the graduation of 14,866 students, including 2,672 Postgraduates, 11,795 Undergraduates, 318 Diploma graduates, and 81 Certificate degree recipients.
Prof. Ndaeyo provided a breakdown of the first-class achievements, stating that the 2017/2018 session produced 49 First-Class graduates, the 2018/2019 session produced 37, and the 2019/2020 session boasted 50 First-Class graduates.
This year’s convocation is particularly significant, as it marks a three-in-one ceremony, encompassing the 26th, 27th, and 28th convocation series of the esteemed University. It is also the first convocation conducted under his leadership as the Vice Chancellor.
Notably, the University of Uyo offers a total of 93 academic programs, with 82 of them securing full accreditation, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and quality service delivery.
In his address, Prof. Ndaeyo emphasized the university’s dedication to enhancing student welfare through facility improvements in hostels and halls to ensure a comfortable and conducive learning environment. Additionally, the university administration places a strong emphasis on staff welfare and ensures timely promotions.
During the convocation, three distinguished Nigerians, namely Mr. Vincent Enyema, Nigeria’s renowned Super Eagles goalkeeper, Mr. Udom Inoyo, a philanthropist and Advisor to Inoyo Toro Foundation, and Sen. Daisy Danjuma, will be honored with honorary degrees from the University of Uyo. This recognition celebrates their remarkable contributions and achievements.
